Both of McKinley's appointments went very well last week. It was really interesting to watch the neuro-development testing. She did great. I was surprised at some of the things she was able to do that I didn't think she would. She is definately on track if not advanced for her age. After she was all done, we headed for the dinosaur park! Since Mom and I sort of found it by accident the first time we went, we got very lost trying to get there. Oh well. It was a good time for the kids to nap. It was a lot of fun, and of course I forgot to take the camera.
Friday we got up early so that Kinley could get breakfast in before she wasn't allowed to eat anymore. Then we went to the zoo as soon as it opened. It was nice to be there when it was a little cooler and there weren't so many people. They had some adorable twin baby monkeys and a baby giraffe! Of course we had to ride the train before we could leave. Then Mom and Braeden discovered a cool little "prairie dog burrow." It had blind cave fish and fruit bats in it. Definately Brae's favorite part.
Then it was back to the hospital for Kinley's sedated echo. She was pretty grumpy by then, because she hadn't had anything but apple juice for 5 hours, and she was tired. We finally got her settled in and sedated (the hardest part) for the echo. It was funny to watch her go through the phases of sedation. First she got the giggles, then she hit the loopy stage just before she was out. While they were doing the echo we went to the cafeteria for some lunch. We got done just as she was ready to go up to recovery and wake up. She perked up pretty quick when Grandpa started giving her bites of Braeden's orange slushie. We met with her cardiologist for a few minutes. He said that everything looked really good (although you can never get them to say just that) and we should be able to put her next surgery off until she's 3 or 4!! Yay! He said there is a bit of leakage between her upper and lower chambers, but it's mild enough you can't hear it. They'll just continue to monitor that and make sure it doesn't get worse. We'll see him in Pocatello again in July, then probably not for 6 months or so!
